My sweat dropped on my lap like a rock on an ant. I could hear my own heartbeat racing with my breath. I knew that I had to this in order to gain my freedom, I wanted to see my family again. I could smell the my mom's cooking. I could see my brother running to me for a hug. Of course, my father with his hairy body will give me a warm-welcoming hug. I have to stop thinking about this if I want to successes fully cross this line full of whites
Finally, I drew up my wits to raise my leg for a dash of my life. Without my knowledge, my legs started to run toward the border line. The I heard a thing that scared the devils out of me.
A man screamed, "I see a slave on the run!"
I sprinted as fast I could dodging bullets along the way, but I was tripped over by a branch. In the midst of the darkness, I was able to get up from the ground. The firing sounds seems countries away, the sounds seemed like bugs flying around. Right then, I saw a young white boy pointing a gun at me. Then I felt a cold metal knocking against the back of my head, and my eyesight became fuzzy. Soon, it was black.
24 hours earlier
I woke up this morning at one. There was something that I just don't know how to express it. The feeling of me being just some two miles away from freedom tingles my heart. I have had this feeling for the first time I got here which was a week ago, but tonight this feeling became even stronger. It may be the fact that a lot of the slave owners are going out to a drunk party near downtown, thus this feeling of freedom is coming back to me.

Question from the Graph! Race of all Kind
Population (y-axis) versus Time (x-axis)
Was China’s population were always on the climb?
Around the 1860’s, you could see a little drop of population in China. There might be many different explanation for this event, after doing some research I have came up with a conclusion to why the Chinese population drop. The gold rush started in the 1850’s, and it didn’t stop till the 1860’s. Some 60,000 Chinese came to America in the early 1850’s. Besides the gold rushes, some other major events also attracted the Chinese. A lot of company owners would rather use the Chinese, because they are very cheap to use. The buildings of the railroads were one of the many jobs that attracted the Chinese. Chinese did all the jobs that nobody could do; they risked their lives out there. I believe this what Chinese believe this is their American Dream, they wanted to start a new life there.
The least can be the best?
This is one of the most original graph on gap minder. The life expectancy just went on a straight uphill in the beginning of the 1880’s. After, doing some research I found something amazing that my contributed to the growth of life expectancy. Clara Barton created the American Red Cross on 1881. American Red Cross is an organization similar to the International Red Cross, but American Red Cross serves within the United States. American Red Cross, is an organization that is dealing with health, it is sort of like a blood donating, organ donating, and many more service. Present day, it also became a disaster relief fund for the U.S. The graph shows us that with economy, it is not making the health better in anyway. The economy of U.S. had been on a steady rise since the beginning of 1800’s, but it wasn’t until the 1880’s the life expectancy grew heavily. While the life expectancy was growing, the economy wasn’t making a major progress. Does money cause happiness?
I do not own any of the gap minder graphs.

Artifact 5I wanted to be an explorer.
The primary source for this artifact is about the Gold Rush in California. The narrator of the letter was a father who left New York to try to get some gold.
http://www.eyewitnesstohistory.com/californiagoldrush.htm#
Origin
The creator or the writer of all the letters is S. Shufet. The time is about the 1850’s, whenever Shufet was writing these letters to his cousin. The settings of the letters are around California with the gold rush, and the letters also are coming from the ship that he boarded. The letters were found in an auction that token place in 1924. Now, all the
letters are all locked up in the Library of Congress.
Purpose
The letters can be very important insight to what it was like in the gold rush. We can have a really good view about what was happening to the miner’s life. These letters are meant to be given to his cousin. Shufet believed that writing down what he saw and what happened to him was a good idea. He used great words to paint a good picture for his cousin to view. I believe that he intended for his letters to go to his family. The document talks about his life during the gold rush.
Value
The passage gives me a lot of ideas for S.Shufet. He seemed to be a very carful and smart person, because a lot of people couldn’t write during that time. He seems to be a just man, because he wants police and more law enforcements near the camps. He doesn’t gamble or do anything bad, because he seems to disgust the people who gambles. The time period is definitely in the middle of 1850’s, because the whole passage is talking about the Gold Rush at that time. People outside of the camps believed that the gold rush was not that bad, but it was pretty hard down there. Mr. Shufet stand on the side where he thinks the camps are really bad. In Britain during the 1850’s there was child labor problems.
Limitation
Well, the whole passage is about the bad things for the miners. The whole passage never talked about how much money was gained from mining. We could verify this passage, by asking other passengers that traveled with him from New York. The whole passage seems to be pretty accurate. The amount of people getting executed and the people getting jailed were never told. The passage focused on what made the whole rush terrible.

It may be the fact that a lot of the slave owners are going out to a drunk party near downtown, thus this feeling of freedom is coming back to me.
John came down to check like he does everyday, he said," Chris, please get back to your bed. I know that you are excited, but you still need your energy. There will be a great run for you tomorrow. "
I said, " Sorry sir, I just can't go back to bed. You have no idea how nervous I am ?"
He left without replying to me. I know that he is pretty nervous too. He had been helping over 20 slaves escape this way, and more and more people are keeping an eye out at him. The story is that once a slave of his saved his daughter from an assault by a white men. During the trail, John couldn't stand up for the slave. Thus, the slave was hanged right after the trail. So, he decided to spend the rest of his life saving as much slaves as possible.
I remember my first time walking upon into this house. I wondered in the streets in disguise looking for this house. I looked for the lantern on the hitching post just as the great slave, Harriet Tubman, had told me to do so. I was so tired and hungry, whenever I finally saw the house. I knocked on the door with my whole entire body trembling. I didn't why I was scared, I had been through at least 10 of these underground railroad houses. I know that this would be final house before I was reunited with my family. As the door opened, a young girl stared at me.
I said, " Please let me in, I was sent by Harriet Tubman to come here!"
Without making another sound, I was rushed in by the girl. I was welcomed with food and drink.
Right then, I felt a wave of tiredness came upon me, and I fell asleep. Whenever I waked up, it was nine already in the morning. I walk up the dining room to find my breakfast waiting for me. The mistress of the house went to downtown to buy food, while John went to his clinical practice. The young girl was in school. I clean up the house like I always done for every railroad houses. All of a sudden, John busted through the door with a sign of danger on his face.
John said, " Go now! Go now! You can't wait for midnight to leave. A whole entire army is coming to check every house for run away slaves. They are going to be here in less than 10 minutes."
I said, " I..., What should I do? You haven't told me the route."
John opened one of his secret cabinets, and he pulled out a paper full of words. He said," Here take this, it has everything you need to get to the other side. Go to the kitchen grab as much food as possible. I will go bring a bag for you."
I ran to the kitchen grab as much bread as possible. Then, John came in with a bag. He let me out of the back door.
" John, you have been such a great friend to me. I will never forget you. Once I am free, I promise I will come back to visit," I said
John said, " Okay, okay. Be careful. I can't let you out from the front door, it is too dangerous. Going this way will be eight miles. Look for a man name Paul Reeves, his house has 6 lanterns near the door. Write to me when you get there! Go now!"
I ran as fast as I could toward freedom. I know now that I don't have to trust anyone, but my self now. It was such a hard journey. By four in the afternoon, I could hear men starting to scream out in happiness back in the small town in Virgina.Their party is about to begin, and this why the perfect to run would be now. I ran as fast as possible, but at two in the afternoon I only covered half way. I sat down on a very wet rock to eat my lunch. After just taking one bite off the bread, I heard a gunshot in the town. In panic, I dropped my sandwich in the ground. Then I heard people rushing into the woods, I picked up the sandwich so they won't know I was here. Two white men came with guns on their shoulder.
The first white men said, " I can't wait for the party tonight!"
"I know, I hate doing this run-away slave post. I hate those African-Americans"
All of a sudden a snake moved up my leg toward my body. I grab the snake and throw it out at the white men. Then I step, and I screamed my heart out at them. The two white men were nothing but chickens. They ran away dropping their rifles and hand guns. I picked them up knowing that there will be more men coming for me. I picked up my pace, and I was able to see freedom by one the next morning.
My sweat dropped on my lap like a rock on an ant. I could hear my own heartbeat racing with my breath. I knew that I had to this in order to gain my freedom, I wanted to see my family again. Artifact 10Dear Diary (28 of December),
I am sorry that I couldn't write for the last couple of days. I have been on the road, because the white people are pushing us to walk faster. We are camping right now in what the whites called “Illinois”, it is filled with the filthiness of whites. I feel so bad right now to see my own people die of starvation. I tried my best. I sneaked out food as much as possible, and I tried to make sure my great Cherokee people don't start a riot. We stand no chance against them, and their witchcraft "guns". They are nothing but cheaters. Those white people without their guns, they will be useless. They can’t even shoot using arrows. They cheated us out of this land. Their chief, President Jackson, is the head of all the cheaters. He tricked us into signing an illegitimate treaty. We didn’t sign any treaty, and he made some of the traitors of this tribe to sign this treaty. We tried to tell the government about this, but they still made us leave. We stayed here in our home Tennessee as long as possible, but then this year, 1838, white soldiers came to move us into the west. We didn’t even have time to pack our belongings together. They have no hearts. They killed anyone who was packing simple stuff such as food. One of our great leaders, Hosiah, was killed, whenever he tried to protect us. My brother and I were able to learn English as a young child, because our parents are very close to the white people. They never knew that they were nothing but traitors. So, our family gets the privilege of much better services, but I don’t this idea. I feel like traitors to our people. Right now, it is really cold. I would see the puddles of water turning into ice. Most of us are in summer clothes. We already experienced some thousand of people had already died. If the death toll remains like this, we might have some 5,000 people die out of the 15,000. I heard from our fellow friends, the Creeks, that the new land is not that good either. I just hope that everything can go back to normal. I hate the whites for stepping their shoe on this land. Those white people without their guns, they will be useless. They can’t even shoot using arrows.

Dear Mr. Edison,
Hello Mr.Edison, I am Daniel in the 21 century. I am sending you this letter from a time machine. I hope you get this message. Well, I have so much to thank you for. I know there are many different things that you invented, but the electric light bulb is something that I praise you for. My life can't go a single moment without light. I can't really praise you for the inventor of a light bulb, because other people had already started on this way before you. But, you are still the scientist who made the light last longer. Plus, your light bulb was started to actually put in use around cities. That is a lot better than just making the light going on. You used carbon filament( I know you used to call this carbon bamboo burners.) for the light bulb, and it lasted 1500 hours. That is amazing! The best part is that you showed your "incandescent" light bulb to display in Menlo park on the last of the 1870's decade. There are many other great things that you invented such as phonograph(We use ipods now.), contributions to telegraph(We have computers), and Kinetoscope ( A tool that shows pictures after pictures. He later called it motion picture camera.). I still love your light bulb best though.

P.S.- Your quote " I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." You are my hero to think of such a great comeback. This quote is on my desk right now, I read it every time I am down. I also included a picture of the biggest city in United States, New York, in this letter.
